Night School 6, Session 1: Bracing Connections and Related Topics -- Basic Principles

Most connection design is based on first principles, without the aid of complex computer models and with little codification. This session will discuss the limit states related to connection design and explore the methods of specifying connections as described in the AISC Code of Standard Practice. It also will address the three basic principles of structural mechanics: equilibrium, constitutive equations (limit states), and compatibility. The presentation then will focus on the Lower Bound Theorem. Finally, the most common methods of designing brace connections will be introduced and compared.

This course is based on a past AISC Night School.

You must purchase and pass a quiz to receive a PDH certificate for this course.
