Riveting Redux [N4A]

Are you rehabilitating an historic metal bridge or assessing the safety of a riveted iron or steel structure? This session will enhance your understanding of the design, fabrication and behavior of riveted connections, beginning with necessary background on the history, development, technology and theory of structural riveting, leading into guidance on appraising and renovating riveted structures. Results of recent experiments investigating fracture resilience and redundant behavior of riveted built-up members will presented next, followed by a fabricator's perspective on equipment and procedures for rehabilitating riveted structures.
