This session will present the results of an experimental study to validate an innovative technique for enhancing the seismic performance of steel special moment frame beam-to-column connections involving reducing the strength of specified regions of the beam flanges by exposing them to high temperatures followed by slow cooling. Attendees will learn how it works and get a peak into a possible future of seismic design.
