Smart Model Transfer: Using the Digital Superhighway [Y6]

Transfer of digital models from the engineer to the fabricator is not a new concept. The 2016 AISC Code of Standard Practice recognizes the use of and provides guidance on the use of digital models as a design document. How much information can be transferred using a digital model? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this methodology given todays technology? This presentation will provide a project case study on how the digital model was used as a design document, how the digital model was professionally sealed, how connection design forces were provided, how design model revisions were identified/ tracked, some valuable lessons learned, and how both teams dealt with a new ""business model"".
