Steel Casting - Now Available in North America! [N23A]

While steel castings have been utilized for decades for end fittings for cables and rod systems and fixtures in point-supported glass facades, the use of steel castings for primary structural systems has seen limited use in the North America. This historical precedent is rapidly changing with several large, exciting, and high profile projects in North American currently using highly-visible steel castings in free-flowing and complex shapes to support major buildings loads. The session will present an engaging overview from the perspective of a project engineer of record, a casting specialty engineer, and a representative of a steel foundry, focusing on the use of steel castings from design and shaping to specification and quality assurance through the production process.
