Structural Analysis and Design of SoFi Stadium [U3]

SoFi Stadium, located inside the brand new Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., is the newest large-scale, stand-out venue to be constructed in the US. The state-of-the-art home of the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers is the largest indoor-outdoor stadium in the NFL at 3.1 million sq. ft and the centerpiece of the world-class sports and entertainment destination.

SoFi stadium is a dramatic achievement in structural steel, with a roof canopy that covers 1.2 million sq. ft, including a stadium with a capacity of 100,000 people and a state-of-the-art performance venue. The structural design incorporates cables with a compression ring and seismic isolation for the roof, as well as buckling-restrained braces and lock-up devices for the stadium seating bowl.

This session will explore the design complexities and present the innovative engineering solutions that facilitated the completion of this landmark project.
