Zero Tolerance? The Absence of a Tolerance Does Not Mean It's Zero [E28]

This session will discuss the topic of tolerances, where to find them, how to apply them, and what to do if there isn't one for your problem. Attendees will learn which tolerances are available in different standards and be given some insight into where to look when a tolerance is needed. The speaker will explain that tolerances apply across all aspects of steel fabrication from a typical office structure to a complex nuclear power plant. Most importantly, we will discuss what to do when you can't find the tolerance you need for a problem. We will show some examples of the poor application of a tolerance and what happens when a tolerance is misused. Attendees will learn that just because you can't find a tolerance, it doesn't mean the tolerance is zero.
