Earthquake Engineering Webinar Series Begins July 15

AISC is offering a three-part webinar series, “Introduction to Earthquake Engineering for Steel Structures,” which will take place on July 15, 22 and 29. The series will provide an introduction to the concepts and principles that underlie the seismic design of steel structures.

The first webinar will discuss system ductility and the basic principles of seismic design. The second part will cover the intended behavior of the two predominant steel seismic force-resisting systems used in building design - moment frames and braced frames - as well as analysis and design considerations for both systems. The series will conclude with the determination of seismic loads following standard building codes.

Each 1.5-hour webinar will begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT:

Session 1: July 15 - Part 1: System Ductility and Seismic Design

Session 2: July 22 - Part 2: Steel Systems

Session 3: July 29 - Part 3: Building Codes

This series offers two options for registering: a three-session package (only one continuing education certificate issued) or individual webinars (unlimited number of continuing education certificates issued per connection).

Registrants will receive access to a PDF file of the presentation slides prior to each webinar, CEU/PDH certificates upon completion of the live webinar (0.15 CEUs / 1.5 PDHs per session) and complete instructions for accessing the live webinar.
