Upcoming Webinar to Cover Direct Analysis Method

For Marlins Park in Miami, retractable roof panel stability was considered using the direct analysis method.

To assist engineers in learning how to use the relatively new direct analysis method of design, AISC is offering a webinar, “The Direct Analysis Method - Application and Examples,” next Thursday, December 8.

The direct analysis method first appeared in the 2005 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings as an alternate way to design for stability. It was upgraded to Chapter C in the 2010 Specification as the primary method to design structures for stability. For the many engineers transitioning from the effective length method to the direct analysis method, this presentation will provide an overview of the direct analysis method and a series of design examples that progress from simple to complex.

This 90-minute webinar will begin at 12:30 p.m. (CT). Registrants are eligible to receive 1.5 PDHs upon completion of the webinar. For more information and to register, go to
