To assist engineers in learning how to use the relatively new direct analysis method of design, AISC is offering a webinar, “The Direct Analysis Method - Application and Examples,” next Thursday, December 8.
The direct analysis method first appeared in the 2005 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings as an alternate way to design for stability. It was upgraded to Chapter C in the 2010 Specification as the primary method to design structures for stability. For the many engineers transitioning from the effective length method to the direct analysis method, this presentation will provide an overview of the direct analysis method and a series of design examples that progress from simple to complex.
