AISC is offering a webinar, “Design of Underhung Hoist and Crane Girders,” on Thursday, May 18, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. CT.
Underhung crane girders are often used in manufacturing, industrial and power plants and have particular design challenges including member continuity, laterally unsupported flanges and fatigue of the support member. Many of these challenges are not considered in more standard structural designs. This presentation will discuss the various challenges encountered when designing underhung crane girders, and will include a design example.
Topics will include: support structures; connections between the supporting members and the runway girder; runway girders for underslung hoists and crane runways; and curved monorail support beams.
