Webinar Addresses Sound Control in Steel Buildings

Many have the perception that acoustics qualities of steel structures are not as robust as those of other major building materials. AISC is hosting a webinar, "Design Guide 30: Sound Isolation and Noise in Steel Buildings," on November 13 from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. ET that will shed light on the superior acoustical qualities that can be achieved in steel structures, as described in AISC’s Design Guide 30. Practical design applications will be incorporated, including discussions on floor/ceiling and wall assemblies. Architects will find this presentation immediately applicable to their projects.

Presenter Benjamin Markham will bring his passion for acoustics as he breaks down the behavior of sound, design criteria, building code requirements, paths of sound transmission and details to successfully achieve sound isolation. Markham is a principal consultant and director of Acentech’s Architectural Acoustics group, as well as a visiting lecturer at the architecture schools at Harvard University, MIT and Cornell University.

Registrants are eligible to receive 1.5 PDHs upon completion of the webinar. Register at For more on Design Guide 30 click here.
