SSSBA, AISI, AGA To Host Short-Span Bridge Webinar May 11

A free one-hour webinar will explore sustainable steel options for replacing America’s aging bridge infrastructure, which President Biden has identified as a top national priority.

The webinar, “Building a Sustainable Infrastructure with Short Span Steel Bridges,” will be presented by three industry experts and held on Tuesday, May 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST. It will be hosted by the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA), American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), and American Galvanizers Association (AGA). Registration details are available here.

The presenters and their topics are as follows:

  • The current national proposed infrastructure plans, with information specifically related to investment in our nation’s bridges — presented by Brett Smith, AISI’s senior director of government relations 

  • Sustainability of the American steel industry, with ideas on how to create a more sustainable infrastructure with steel bridge solutions — presented by Mark Thimons, AISI’s vice president of sustainability

  • Material and coating options to extend the life of a steel bridge 100 years and beyond — presented by John Krzywicki, AGA’s marketing director

The webinar is part of an annual event hosted by United for Infrastructure known as “United for Infrastructure: A Week to Champion America’s Infrastructure,” taking place May 10-14, 2021. Now in its ninth year, participating organizations host events during the designated week to build awareness of and educate policymakers and citizens about the infrastructure challenges in the United States. AISI is an affiliate member of United for Infrastructure 2021.
