A unique level of detail is needed to successfully design, detail, fabricate, and erect Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS).  This teaching aid is a PowerPoint presentation that discusses the categories of AESS under AISC’s 2016 Code of Standard Practice and includes a series of steps for making a category selection. Friendly tips are provided by steel fabricators to help project teams find the right mix of categories that fits the project budget while achieving the desired finish of exposed steel.
