Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel
This teaching aid provides information for the construction manager considering a project in which the designer has designated steel members as Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS). Typical applications are described. The impact of AESS on cost and schedule are outlined along with recommendations for properly communicating expectations to minimize risk. Fabrication and erection requirements that may be specified are described in detail, and a case is developed showing how AESS was implemented on a project. The PowerPoint presentation includes interactive macros.
