Student Manual Discount Program

AISC provides the 15th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual (after July 1, 2017), the 14th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual, the 2nd Edition AISC Seismic Design Manual, and Detailing for Steel Construction to students at a reduced price when they are ordered through their professor.   

Steel Construction Manuals (either 14th or 15th Edition) are priced at $135 each.
For a limited time, Seismic Design Manuals are priced at $35 each.  (Final sale/non-refundable)
Detailing for Steel Construction is priced at $55.

Note about the Steel Construction Manual: This year, faculty have the option to select either the new 15th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual or the 14th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual.  Faculty must choose one or the other for all of the students in their course.  Requests for multiple Editions will not be fulfilled.

AISC Steel Construction Manual, 14th Edition

This manual is available to students through professors for the price of $135 when purchased through the Student Discount Program. (Retail price is $200/member or $400/non-member)

This manual is the fourteenth major update of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, which was first published in 1927. The 14th Edition AISC Steel Construction Manual is based on the 2010 Specification for Structural Steel Buildings and replaces the 13th Edition of this publication.

The following specifications, codes and standards are printed in Part 16 of this Manual:

  • 2010 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings
  • 2009 RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using High-Strength Bolts
  • 2010 AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges

AISC Seismic Design Manual, 2nd Edition

This manual is available to students through professors for the price of $135 when purchased through the Student Discount Program. (Retail price is $200/member or $400/non-member)

Now expanded to 10 parts, the 2nd Edition AISC Seismic Design Manual includes sections on general seismic design considerations, analysis considerations, and systems not specifically detailed for seismic resistance. Different seismic force resisting systems are covered in the balance of the sections, along with diaphragms, chord and collectors as well as an introduction to engineered damping systems.

The AISC Seismic Design Manual includes hundreds of pages of comprehensive design examples, including connections, updated for the 2010 AISC Seismic Provisions. Examples are shown with LRFD and ASD design methodologies side-by-side.

Also included are two AISC seismic-related standards: the 2010 AISC Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings (ANSI/AISC 341-10) and the 2010 AISC Prequalified Connections for Special and Intermediate Steel Moment Frames for Seismic Applications with Supplement No. 1 (ANSI/AISC 358-10 and ANSI/AISC 358s1-11).

Detailing for Steel Construction

This manual is available to students through professors for the price of $55 when purchased through the Student Discount Program. (Retail price is $75/member or $150/non-member)

The 3rd Edition of Detailing for Steel Construction is an update of the 2nd Edition to be consistent with the 2005 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings. Topics included are:
