University Programs

Student Competitions

The American Institute of Steel Construction is proud to sponsor the following steel-related student competitions.

Student Design Competition
Sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction and administered by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the program is intended to challenge students, working individually or in teams, to explore a variety of issues related to the use of steel in design and construction.

Student Steel Bridge Competition
This inter-collegiate challenge requires civil engineering students to design, fabricate and construct a steel bridge. Student teams participate in one of the Regional Competitions, and the top teams in each region move on to compete in the National Finals typically held in late May. The American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Society of Civil Engineers are the organizing sponsors.

Student SteelDay Contest
Sustainability is the name of the game in this year's AISC Student SteelDay Contest! This year, AISC is celebrating steel’s unique recyclability by challenging students to recreate an iconic steel structure using recycled materials. Students can participate in a small group or as individuals, and both participation categories include exciting prizes!
