Campus Connection Grants
AISC offers an exciting opportunity to bring high-quality speaking engagements to your campus! The AISC Education Foundation provides funding in the form of reimbursement grants to encourage university faculty and AISC Student Clubs to hold on-campus, in-person speaking engagements with inspiring leaders of the structural steel industry.
A Campus Connection grant can offer the following opportunities to you and your students:
- Explore careers in design, research, and/or construction management
- Learn about the latest innovations in structural steel
- Expand the network of speakers and visitors/industry guests to your school
Choose a speaking engagement topic based on a session at the most recent NASCC: The Steel Conference. Follow these steps to apply for a Campus Connection grant:
- Review the 2024 Steel Conference session recordings. (Filter by 'Conference Recordings and Papers', and the year).
- Identify a session topic and speaker you would like to visit your campus. (Find our list of recommended 2024 speakers here).
- Contact the speaker to ensure they can travel to your campus during the requested term and to carefully budget all aspects of the speaker’s visit.
- Complete the grant application.
A maximum of $1,200 will be awarded for successful grant proposals. Supplemental funds are not necessary but can be helpful regarding speaker honorariums/travel stipends. Please articulate those plans if applicable in your application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis and will be approved as funding allows.
Funds will be reimbursed to the university or department following the event (the grant awardee must submit a completed reimbursement form). Funding may be used for speaker travel expenses, speaker honorarium, food and non-alcoholic beverages for attendees, and/or A/V costs for recording the presentation. The grant recipient is responsible for coordinating all logistics with their selected speaker.
