Jamie Farris

Jamie is Director of the Bridge Division's Design Section, where she is responsible for providing district support and oversight for statewide bridge design, design and support for traffic structures, bridge railing, bridge standards, special structures, bridge aesthetics, shop drawing review, and historic bridge preservation.

Ms. Farris graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Architectural Engineering and an MS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structures and has been a registered engineer in Texas since 2004. Ms. Farris' career has given her experience designing a wide range of concrete and steel bridge types as well as rehabilitating historical bridges, participating in value engineering studies, serving as a project manager overseeing consultant engineering work, writing TxDOT guidelines and manuals, serving as a project advisor on research projects, and providing technical assistance for design-build projects. Ms. Farris' steel bridge construction research at UT-Austin led to her involvement with the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA), where she chaired the Steel Erection task group for four years. Ms. Farris has served as the past Chair of the Texas Steel Quality Council and is a standing committee member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Steel Bridges Committee AFF20. She has recently become a member of the AASHTO Subcommittee on Bridges and Structures (SCOBS), where she serves as a technical committee member on T-17 Metals for Fabrication and T-14 Structural Steel Design committees.
