Senior Research Scientist

Jason Provines is a senior research scientist at the Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC) conducting research for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), with a focus on implementing results into standard VDOT practice. Jason's primary research focus during his 5 years at the VTRC has been on developing long-term durable solutions for steel bridges to reduce maintenance costs. Jason has served as the principal investigator on numerous research projects involving ASTM A709 Grade 50CR stainless steel in the areas of bolted and welded connections, design, fabrication, and construction. Jason also chairs the AASHTO/NSBA Collaboration Task Group 18 on Duplex Stainless Steel chairs the Connections subcommittee of the AISC Committee on Structural Stainless Steel.
